Sally Minter was born in
Brownsville, Texas in 1954. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from
Southwest Texas State University. She has been painting steadily for the
last six years, gradually establishing a solid reputation as a Texas
landscape painter.
Sally paints in acrylics
from a combination of on location studies and photographs. She regularly
returns to the field for observation, seeking to capture some part of
the awe-inspiring beauty of God's creation.
Sally started painting
professionally, hoping that she would one day learn to paint like the
artist she admired. Instead, she has created her own style of painting
the Texas landscape she loves. Her style stands apart from the rest,
showing the true beauty of the hill country.
One of her paintings was
selected for the cover of Janice Woods Windle's novel "Hill
Country", and her works are included in numerous collections
including Compass Bank.
Sally now lives near
Wimberley with her daughter
